2010 Edge Hill Short Story Prize

JEREMY DYSON, the co-writer of The League of Gentlemen, is one of five short-story writers shortlisted for the 2010 Edge Hill Short Story Prize, which includes titles from two independent publishers (Salt Publishing and Big Finish) and three big publishers (Little, Brown, Jonathan Cape and Harvill Secker).

Dyson’s The Cranes That Build Cranes (Abacus/Little, Brown) is up against Costa Book of the Year winner A.L. Kennedy’s What Becomes (Vintage/Jonathan Cape). Jane Feaver’s Love Me Tender (Vintage/Harvill Secker), Robert Shearman’s Love Songs for the Shy and Cynical (Big Finish) and Nuala Ní Chonchúir’s Nude (Salt Publishing) round up the list.

The prize, co-sponsored by Blackwell and now in its fourth year, is the UK’s only award that recognises a published collection of short stories. The winner of the prize will be announced on July 8, 2010, at an awards ceremony at Blackwell’s Charing Cross bookstore in London.
