2006 LOS ANGELES TIMES BOOK PRIZES: Shortlists

NOMINEES for the 2006 Los Angeles Times Book Prizes were announced on March 9, 2006, and the newspaper's Robert Kirsch Award went to Joan Didion, whose memoir, The Year of Magical Thinking (2005), received the 2005 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
